Listen to a Conversation: campus and daily-life dialogues
A short dialogue between two people — usually students, staff or colleagues — followed by two questions about the problem, the solution and what someone will do next.
Format
- Four to eight turns between two speakers, heard once.
- Two multiple-choice questions after the conversation.
- Questions often ask why someone is talking, what they decide, or what they imply.
Strategy
- Note three things: the problem, the suggestion, the decision.
- Listen for changes of mind: 'Actually…', 'In that case…', 'Good point.'
- The last lines often contain the next action.
Common traps
- An option that describes the first idea, not the final decision.
- Details that are mentioned but belong to the other speaker.
