Listen and Repeat: accuracy, stress and rhythm

You are in a scene — a tour, a training session — and repeat what a guide says, sentence by sentence. The sentences get longer. It tests listening accuracy, pronunciation and fluency.

About Speaking practice

Format

  • Seven sentences, heard once each.
  • Response time: 8, 8, 10, 10, 10, 12, 12 seconds.
  • No preparation time.

Strategy

  1. Chunk the sentence into meaning groups while you listen.
  2. Keep the stress pattern — which words sound strong.
  3. Start speaking right after the tone; a steady pace beats a fast one.

Common traps

  • Dropping small words (the, of, to) in longer sentences.
  • Changing the word order to something that sounds natural to you.
